Botulinum therapy involves injecting a small amount of botulinum toxin (such as Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, Xeomin®, or Daxxify®) into specific facial or neck muscles. These injections temporarily weaken the targeted muscles, helping smooth out fine lines and wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions.
• Procedure Time: 10–15 minutes
• Onset of Results: 2–12 days
• Duration of Effect: ~3 months
✅ FDA-Approved (On-Label)

To minimize the risk of bruising or complications, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:
🛑 Avoid a Few Days Before Treatment (if medically safe):
• Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve), Vitamin E, Fish Oil, and Other blood thinners (unless prescribed — consult your doctor before stopping)
• Inform your injector of all medications, supplements, or herbal products you’re taking — even over-the-counter ones.
• Do not schedule your injection right before a big event if you want to avoid the chance of visible bruising.
• Stay well hydrated and avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment.
To ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects, please follow these instructions for the first 24 hours after your treatment:
🚫 Avoid the Following:
• Strenuous exercise (e.g., running, weightlifting, high-intensity workouts)
• Touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas
• Hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms
• Facial treatments, chemical peels, or laser treatments
✅ Do This Instead:
• Avoid heavy makeup for the first few hours
• If needed, apply ice gently to reduce swelling or bruising
ℹ️ What to Expect:
• You may see small bumps or redness at the injection sites — this is normal and typically resolves within 30–60 minutes.
• Bruising, if it occurs, may take a few days to fade.
• Full results typically appear within 2–12 days.

Results usually last 3 to 4 months, after which the muscle activity, and wrinkles, will begin to return. To maintain results, regular touch-ups are recommended. In some cases, a follow-up or touch-up session may be needed 12 to 21 days after the initial injection.
While most clients tolerate botulinum therapy well, possible side effects may include:
• Mild pain at the injection site
• Bruising or swelling
• Headache
• Itching or numbness
• Temporary asymmetry or drooping of eyelids/eyebrows
These are typically rare and temporary. In a small percentage of people, the treatment may not produce the desired effect.
Certain medications and supplements can increase the risk of bruising. These include:
• Vitamin E
• Aspirin
• Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil)
• Blood thinners (e.g., Coumadin/Warfarin)
• Other NSAIDs
It’s best to pause these medications 5 days before your appointment if your healthcare provider approves.
Always inform your injector of all medications and supplements you’re taking — including over-the-counter ones.
Botulinum toxin injections are not recommended for individuals who are:
• Diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis or other muscle-weakness disorders
Botulinum therapy works best for dynamic wrinkles — lines caused by facial movement (e.g., frown lines, crow’s feet). Static wrinkles — lines visible even at rest — may be less responsive, especially if treatment starts later in life.
Yes — getting Botox every 3 to 4 months can help prevent deeper, permanent lines from forming. These are called static wrinkles, and they can become harder to treat over time. Regular treatments not only maintain your smooth results, but also help you age more gracefully by keeping those lines from setting in.
