Laser Hair Removal

Use of Laser beam to diminish or remove unwanted hair. The procedure requires about 3-8 treatment dependinig on the specific condition and it may produce permanent hair removal. The efficacy depends on several factors such as skin complexion, type of hair, areas of the body to be treated, color of hair and patient patient ethnicity. Light colored hair (light brown, blonde, gray, red) or fine villus hair may not respond to treatments. 

1-Patients on photosensitizing medications or using fake tanning products

2-patient with unshaven hair

3-Tattoos or permanent makeup in the area to be treated

4-Plucking/waxing 2 weeks prior or less

5-Intentional sun exposure 2 weeks prior or less (sunburned)

6-Retin A or hydroquinon topical 3 days prior or less

7-Intramuscular gold therapy

8-patient with albinism (absence of color in hair or skin) or with blond, grey or white hair.

9-Pregnant women

10-Herpes Simplex virus I or II 

11-Cut , broken or inflamed skin in the involved area. 

12-patient taking Acutan or tetracyclin  (discontinue 8 weeks before)

13-medical conditions as Diabetes, Epilepsy, Systemic Lupus. 

Reddening , mild burning, temporary bruising or blistering are short term effects.  Hyper-pigmentation and hypo-pigmentation are more delayed and usually resolve in 3-6 months . Rarely  infection or pin point bleeding may occur
