1. Mechanical Lifting Effect

The threads act as a supportive scaffolding structure beneath the skin, gently lifting and holding tissues in place to restore a firmer, more youthful appearance.

In addition to the immediate lift, the procedure stimulates natural collagen production, enhancing skin firmness and improving texture over time for long-lasting results.

1- Polydioxanone (PDO) most common threads are made of it. It is the same material used in surgical sutures. It takes about 6 months to dissolve. While dissolving it stimulates skin to produce collagen. Full effect lasts for about 12 months.

2- Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA): same substance used  in Sculptra one of the dermal fillers used to stimulate collagen formation 

3- Polycaprolactone (PCA): Lasts up to 2 years as it takes longer time to fully dissolve. It is used in hard tissues or those requiring longer healing time. 

1- Mono threads: inserted into skin subdermis for its tightening effect by  collagen production. 

2- Screw or twine threads : produce more volume thickening than mono threads

3- Cog threads : these are threads which have barbs  or cones to hook on the subcutaneous layer. They are used for lifting and repositioning facial structures for smoothing and contouring face as nasolabial folds, Marionette, Jowl , 

Those with very thin or fragile skin and  those with very heavy sagging skin 

• Thread lift procedure Benefits:  is used to lift cheek and Jowells to reduce nasolabial folds and Marionette lines. It can be used to lift brows in a higher position. It can be used for mild neck lifting. It can be used in any area of the body where lifting or tightening of skin is needed. The lifting effects lasts about one year.
• Who is fit for threads:  It is relatively suitable for persons with average skin thickness with mild saging. It is not recommended for those having severe saging skin, very faty heavy tissue or very thin delicate skin.  
• Procedure duration and down time: It usually takes from 30-80 min depending on number of threads , facial or body area involved, Because we use lidocaine local injection to numb the area, there may be local swelling after procedure lasting for few days. So it is wise to take 2-3 days off work after the procedure. 
• Post procedure precautions: It is usually advised to restrain from exercise and vigrous activity for two weeks. It is also  advised to restrict movement of the mouth during eating , talking and  laughing for about 3 -4 weeks to prevent tension on threads which can affect the resutls.
