Thread Lifting

Mechanism of action

1- Mechanical Lifting effect acting as scaffolding structure for tissues within the skin to hook onto for support

2- Biochemical lifting effect: threads and the procedure triggers collagen production which enhances the effects of treatment.

Benefits of thread lift:

It can define facial contour, elevate nose bridge , rejuvenates skin, smooth fine wrinkles, brighten tone of skin, improve stretch marks and scars, option out of surgery with  more natural results.

Threads materials:

1- Polydioxanone (PDO) most common threads are made of it. It is the same material used in surgical sutures. It takes about 6 months to dissolve. While dissolving it stimulates skin to produce collagen. Full effect lasts for about 12 months.

2- Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA): same substance used  in Sculptra one of the dermal fillers used to stimulate collagen formation

3- Polycaprolactone (PCA): Lasts up to 2 years as it takes longer time to fully dissolve. It is used in hard tissues or those requiring longer healing time.

Types of Threads:

1- Mono threads: inserted into skin subdermis for its tightening effect by  collagen production.

2- Screw or twine threads : produce more volume thickening than mono threads

3- Cog threads : these are threads which have barbs  or cones to hook on the subcutaneous layer. They are used for lifting and repositioning facial structures for smoothing and contouring face as nasolabial folds, Marionette, Jowl ,

Who is not suitable for Thread Lift :

Those with very thin or fragile skin and  those with very heavy sagging skin

Steps of Thread Lift Procedure:

1- Measuring and marking the facial area

2- Applying numbing cream for 15 minutes

3- Injection of Local anesthetic (Lidocaine) to reduce pain

4- Using a small needle, an entry point for threads are  made

5- Insertion of threads through  canula ( long blunt needle)

6- Removal of canula leaving thread inside

7- Trimming any extra thread.
