Dermal fillers are facial injectables used to smooth lines such as marionette lines and nasolabial folds. They can also augment cheekbones, chin, and lips, define the jawline, and fill under-eye hollows (tear troughs) or temple depressions. Additionally, by restoring lost volume, they can indirectly lift the cheeks and jowls. 

There are three main categories of dermal fillers:

1. Immediate hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers – such as JUVÉDERM, Restylane, and EVOLYSE – which offer instant volume and contouring. These are commonly used for lip augmentation, cheek enhancement, under-eye filling, and smoothing folds.2. Biostimulant (collagen-activating) fillers – like Sculptra – which work by gradually enhancing skin thickness and quality over time. Results typically begin to appear around 6 to 8 weeks after treatment and often require 2–3 sessions to achieve optimal effects which lasts about 2 years. 

3.  Radiesse, a unique filler that contains calcium hydroxylapatite. It provides both immediate volumization and a delayed collagen-stimulating effect, depending on the dilution and concentration used. Radiesse is especially effective for skin lifting and tightening, and is commonly used in more mature individuals to compensate for collagen loss.
